KNOPPIX is a bootable CD with a collection of GNU/Linux software, automatic hardware detection, and support for many graphics cards, sound cards, SCSI devices, and other peripherals. It can be used as a Linux demo, educational CD, rescue system, etc. It is not necessary to install anything on a hard disk due to on-the-fly decompression.

Esta versão usa o Kernel 2.6.17-rc * * git, remove XFree86 em favor do Xorg versão 7.0, adiciona o OpenOffice 2.0.2, Mozilla substitui com o Firefox + Thunderbird, acrescenta o KDE 3.5.2, permite o acesso de escrita para partições NTFS, acrescenta um knoppix novo instalador, e remove o cromo, enigma, KDE-helpfiles, rubi, bisontes, e alguns outros relacionados com o desenvolvimento de embalagens (ainda existem Java e C / C + +, Perl, Python, PHP e no CD, a fim de ter um easy-to-set-up do sistema LAMP).
