Linphone is an audio and video Internet phone with GTK+ and console interfaces. It uses the SIP protocol, and is compatible with most SIP clients and gateways. It can use various audio and video codecs such as Speex, GSM, G711, G722, ilbc, amr, Theora, H263-1998, MPEG4, H264, VP8, and snow.

Esta versão traz um totalmente novo GTK + interface gráfica, projetado para ser mais user-friendly e correr com o mesmo aspecto tanto em Linux e Windows XP. Também corre no fundo como um ícone na bandeja do sistema. Soluções de firewall são implementados: o registro de SIP e STUN dupla. A largura de banda disponível é utilizada mais eficientemente pelo fluxo de vídeo, e um novo plugin codec H.264 está disponível para download a experiência com vídeo de alta qualidade. Muitas correções de bugs antigos são incluídas nesta versão também.
