Lziprecover is a data recovery tool and decompressor for files in the lzip compressed data format (.lz) able to repair slightly damaged files, recover badly damaged files from two or more copies, extract data from damaged files, decompress files, and test integrity of files. Lziprecover is able to recover or decompress files produced by any of the compressors in the lzip family; lzip, plzip, minilzip/lzlib, clzip, and pdlzip. It makes lzip files resistant to bit-flip, one of the most common forms of data corruption, and its recovery capabilities contribute to make of the lzip format one of the best options for long-term data archiving.

Lziprecover é agora distribuído em seu próprio pacote. Até a versão 1.12, ele foi incluído no pacote do lzip.
Decompressor opções (-c, -d, -k, -t) foram implementadas para que um descompactador externo não é necessário para recuperação, nem para "fazer seleção". A nova opção "- D, - gama-descomprimir", que extrai um intervalo de bytes ao descompactar somente os membros que contém os dados desejados, foi adicionado. A nova opção "- l, - lista", que imprime tamanhos de arquivo total correto e rácios mesmo para arquivos com vários membros, foi adicionado.

Lziprecover is now distributed in its own package. Until version 1.12, it was included in the lzip package.
Decompressor options (-c, -d, -k, -t) have been implemented so that an external decompressor is not needed for recovery nor for "make check". The new option "-D, --range-decompress", which extracts a range of bytes decompressing only the members containing the desired data, has been added. The new option "-l, --list", which prints correct total file sizes and ratios even for multi-member files, has been added.
"--merge" and "--repair" now remove the output file if recovery fails.
