Cupid is a video recorder built with GStreamer. It
allows you to record V4L1 and V4L2 streams into
various formats and codecs.

wavnorm is a simple command line utility to destructively maximize or alter the colume of a stereo .wav file. It's handy for making the volumes of a range of .wav files consistent before or after mp3 conversion, audio CD burning, etc. nplay is a simple .wav player with VU meter and peak meter. nrecord is a simple .wav recorder with VU meter and peak meter. Although simple the VU meter greatly aids getting optimum recording quality. nplay and nrecord use the newt text mode library.

Floodcast is a streaming plugin for Noatun that
allows you to run a very simple standalone server
on the machine Noatun is running on. Furthermore,
it allows forwarding whatever sound is currently
being played in noatun to a shoutcast or icecast
server.

xmcd2make is a set of Perl scripts which support
users of the gramofile recording, track splitting,
and signal processing package. It consists of 3
userland tools: findtracks.pl (a command line
interface to gramofile track detection),
signalproc.pl (a command line interface to
gramofile track splitting and signal processing),
and xmcd2make.pl (a script that takes an xmcd file
of song names and track timing files and creates a
makefile). When the makefile is run, it splits
the tracks, performs gramofile signal processing,
and encodes the resulting tracks to Ogg Vorbis
format with the correct song names and good tags.

Radiocap is a GUI frontend to sox, oggenc, and lame for
recording audio with a soundcard (WAV, Ogg, and MP3).
It has a built in timer for scheduled capturing of radio
programs. Recording levels are always displayed (even
when recording has not started), which helps when
adjusting the input gain.

soniK is a digital audio editor for the KDE
platform. It allows you to record, edit, and
process sounds on your computer. Its main
features include recording and playback using your
computer's sound card, visualization of the audio
as a waveform or a spectrogram, the ability to
edit audio and transform it with a wide variety
of plugins, and the generation of new sounds.

glitch killer solves the problem of protected CD
rips sometimes having scratchy noises by analysing
the recorded .wav file and removing all "clicks".

mp3cat reads MP3 files from standard input and
writes them to standard output. By default, it
omits any invalid MP3 data from the input when
producing the output, and it features support for
reading from and writing to an "mp3dir". mp3cat
can be used to help implement an MP3 streaming server.

DVBTools is a collection of tools for DVB cards, including dvbdate, dvbstream, dvbtune, and rtpsaudio.

hYPerSonic allows you to build and manipulate signal processing pipelines from Python scripts. It is designed for real-time control. It includes objects for oscillators, filters, file IO, and soundcard and memory operations. It is low-level: every byte counts.

Protux is being developed to be a complete Digital Media Production tool, or Digital Media Workstation. The focus is on GNU/Linux users, but it runs in any workstation with a Java >=1.5 VM installed, and even over the Web through a standard browser that supports Java. It aims to offer an integrated environment for audio, video, and MIDI production throught a innovative interface where the productivity is focused.

WavSplit splits large WAV files at given time positions. To find out split positions you can use any WAV player or editor with a time display. Also included is a tool which helps you renaming the created tracks. WavSplit is based on wavplay and GNU split.

Real Rekord allows users to record RealAudio
streams from RealPlayer.

NBC-VBI is a recording tool for the German Radio.MP3 (operated by MusicPlay), which can be received in Germany via NBC Europe (cable network) and uses the vertical blanking interval of television signals to send the MP3-data. NBC-VBI provides automatic MP3-saver-functions, a cover-saver, filter system, dupe-check, and more.

StreamDownloader is a Web interface to mplayer. It
allows the user to record Realaudio and other mplayer compatible streams from the net for personal use. Recordings can be scheduled, stopped, and downloaded.
