I don't use it frequently but it did help me to do utf-8 to shift-jis back-and-forth conversions. Really handy.

ほとんどがASCII文字だけのファイルで、ぽつん...とc2 a9という2バイトが含まれていたとき、現状のnkfだと『EUC-JPの『息』という文字だ!』と判断してそのファイル全体をEUCだと判断してしまうんですが、そんな場合はぜひ『UTF-8のコピーライト記号だ』と判断してほしいです。ぜひ。
