When starting a new game there is a significant wait while the shop inventories are stocked. (That wait is probably too long, but that's a different ticket ;-)
Rather than leaving the following prompt up there should be a notice that something is actually happening.
"['ESC' to step back, 'S' to start over, or any other key to continue]"
Preferably with some movement or counter to show real progress is being made.
This is a purely cosmetic exercise so it is a very low priority.
