PhpLabware is a database system with features similar to Filemaker and Access, but is completely Web-based. Relational
databases can be defined through the Web interface and extended with PHP plugin code. User and group access is regulated at the record level. It was written by and for life sciences research scientists, but should be generally useful as a Web-based front end to SQL databases.

This release adds improvements to the user interface (which
is now W3C-compliant HTML) and a number of bugfixes. The
'table edit' mode was reworked and is now much more
responsive and usable. It is now possible to add username,
password, and search statements to the URL, making 'deep-
linking' into the databases possible. The PDF plugin can
download the PDF reprint itself (when given a pubmed ID)
from many journals. The import module has been reworked
and should be much more robust.

This release adds the ability to generate reports from the
results of database searches. The reports are based on
user-definable templates. Most of the problems when
working with linked databases in earlier releases have
been removed. The data import and export functions as
well as the user interface were improved. Major speed
increases make it now feasible to work with large
datasets.
