Quassel IRC is a modern, cross-platform, distributed IRC client, meaning that one or more clients can attach to and detach from a central core, much like the popular combination of screen and a text-based IRC client, but graphical. In addition to this unique feature, it aims to be a comfortable chatting program.

Outra novidade são editáveis atalhos, os atalhos de navegação entre os bate-papos e emacs estilo atalhos para a linha de entrada. This release brings improved Desktop Environment integration by adding support for DBusMenu (supports both GNOME and KDE) and improved Ayatana and StatusNotifier support. Also new are editable shortcuts, shortcuts for navigation between chats, and emacs-style key bindings for the input line. The marker line can now be set manually, and one can jump directly to the marker line. Furthermore, this release adds support for Blowfish encryption, also known as mircryption, FiSH, or RFC 2045. Quassel now supports a full-screen mode and is available in Greek, Galician, and Japanese.
