vpopmail (vchkpw) is a collection of programs and a library to
automate the creation and maintenance of virtual domain email
configurations for qmail installations using either a single UID/GID
or any valid UID/GID in /etc/passwd with a home directory. Features
are provided in the library for other applications which need to
maintain virtual domain email accounts. It supports named or IP-based
domains. It works with vqadmin, qmailadmin, vqregister, sqwebmail, and
courier-imap. It supports MySQL, Sybase, Oracle, LDAP, and file-based
(DJB constant database) authentication. It supports SMTP
authentication combined with the qmail-smtp-auth patch. It supports
user quotas and roaming users (SMTP relay after POP authentication).

Enigmail is an extension for the mail client of
Mozilla, Netscape 7.x, and Mozilla Thunderbird that allows users to access the authentication and encryption features provided by the popular GnuPG software. It can encrypt/sign mail when sending, decrypt/authenticate received mail, and import/export public keys. It supports both the inline PGP format and the PGP/MIME format, which can be used to encrypt attachments, and is cross-platform, although binaries are supplied only for a limited number of platforms. Enigmail uses inter-process communication to execute GPG to carry out encryption/authentication.

Mail Avenger is a highly-configurable,
MTA-independent SMTP server. It lets users run messages through filters like ClamAV and SpamAssassin during SMTP transactions, so the server can reject unwanted email before assuming responsibility for its delivery. Other unique features include TCP SYN fingerprint and network
route recording, SPF (sender policy framework) as a general policy language, qmail-style delivery of extension addresses, validation of sender addresses through SMTP callbacks, mail-bomb protection, integration with kernel firewalls, and more.

Clement is an email server application. Its main function is to block unwanted mail (spam) as soon as possible in the email exchange process. It accepts or rejects email while the SMTP session, initiated by the email sender, is still pending, accepting legitimate email messages without the need to return an error status to non-existent or "borrowed" return address later. Clement can operate in two modes, either as a standard MTA (as sendmail, Postfix, Exim, Exchange, etc.) to store email in the recipient's own area, or to transmit the mail to an another SMTP server acting as smart spam filtering device. Each email domain name Clement knows about can be treated in one of these two modes depending on the group to which the domain name has been set. Each message is verified by a virus scanner (ClamAV) while the SMTP connection is still open, but the refusal of mail and the reason for refusal is notified to the actual sender. Mail management is done via a Web interface and can be delegated to three administrative levels (Root-Admin, Group-Admin, Domain-Admin). Standard users can access their own logs (sent email status, email rejected, quarantined email, etc.). With this interface, the user can handle the rejection and acceptance of mail. Users who are level "Admin" can access the session logs (via the Web interface). Clement uses a SQL database (PostgreSQL, MySQL) to store and manage logs, user profiles, and dynamic management of directives concerning the sender-receiver relationship.

dbacl is a digramic Bayesian text classifier. Given some text, it calculates the posterior probabilities that the input resembles one of any number of previously learned document collections. It can be used to sort incoming email into arbitrary categories such as spam, work, and play, or simply to distinguish an English text from a French text. It fully supports international character sets, and uses sophisticated statistical models based on the Maximum Entropy Principle.

IndiMail is a messaging platform built using qmail and other messaging software. IndiMail has the ability to distribute the users in a domain across multiple hosts. IndiMail has multiple queues (called a queue collection), which can achiever very high concurrencies. The system IDs and configuration files used by IndiMail are all configurable through a set of environment variables, allowing you to customize IndiMail the way you want. IndiMail does not use hard-coded uid/gid in the executables, which makes it easy to distribute a binary package. IndiMail has features that any modern email server should have: SMTP, QMQP, QMTP, IMAP, POP3, DKIM, BATV, greylisting, filtering capability, and spam/virus control.

cgipaf is a combination of three CGI programs. passwd.cgi allow users to update their password, viewmailcfg.cgi allows users to view their current mail configuration, and mailcfg.cgi updates the mail configuration with a .procmailrc in the user's home directory. All programs use PAM for user authentication. It is possible to run a script to update Samba passwords or NIS configuration when a password is changed. Users with too many invalid logins can be locked. A range of UIDs that are allowed to use cgipaf can be set in the configuration file. A changepass utility - a chpasswd clone - is provided for platforms that doesn't have such a command, like Solaris.
