cdname.py names MP3 files and generates M3U playlists from CDDB/freedb INF files. (These are often retrieved with cdda2wav -L). MP3s and playlists can be named using any combination of artist name, track
title, album name, track number, etc. Many
aspects are configurable via command line
options. It should complement most
ripping/encoding pipelines well.

Xpand is a simple Python script with Glade GUI front-end for sox, cdparanoia, notlame, mpg123, and normalize. It uses the compand option in sox to adjust the dynamic range of music so the soft parts can be heard in a noisy environment, such as a car. The volume level can be normalized to a standard level so that music originally recorded at different levels will all have the same volume. Music can be read from an MP3, WAV file, or straight from a music CD and output to a MP3 or WAV file.

HacBurn is a graphical frontend for cdrtools, mpg321, vorbis-tools, cdparanoia, and lame.

CDDB.py provides an easy way for Python programs to fetch track and disc information on audio CDs. This information is acquired from CDDB, a very large online database of track listings and other information on audio CDs. Included is a C extension module to enable Python to read track listings from audio CDs under Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and Win32. The interface to this extension module is portable and is intended to be ported to other OSes easily.

rebot3.pl renames MP3 files that you have grabbed from audio CDs with the track name, number, album, and/or artist. It does so by using either a remote CDDB server or a local CDDB created by cd (and other) players like xmcd, kscd or xmms. With rebot3.pl you can also add or remove ID3 (version 1) tags to/from the MP3 files.

dbox2Tradio allows you to listen to radio and watch TV
channels using external helper applications (such as xmms or
Xine). The shell-style script remotely accesses the dbox2 and
performs any action via the Web interface. It supports
bouquets and is highly user configurable.

rip-utils is a comprehensive command line toolkit
for ripping, encoding, tagging, organizing,
compiling, and otherwise managing audio archives.
Each utility participates in a common framework
that allows commodity tools (such as file
browsers, multimedia players, and streaming
servers) to access your digital catalog simply and
effectively. A single command `ru rip` (tuned for
optimal quality using cdparanoia and LAME) drives
the ripping, encoding, and tagging process from
end to end. rip-utils also provides powerful
support for retrieving, modifying, comparing, and
submitting album information using freedb servers.

crip is a terminal-based ripper/encoder/tagger
tool for creating Ogg Vorbis files (or MP3 files
for crip 1.X) under Unix/Linux. It is well-suited
for someone seeking to make a lot of Ogg/MP3 files
from CDs and have them all properly labeled and
professional-quality with a minimum of hassle.

glitch killer solves the problem of protected CD
rips sometimes having scratchy noises by analysing
the recorded .wav file and removing all "clicks".

Emptytree Seedy is a distributed digital music system. It is designed to operate in a multi-host, automatic, and batch manner to simplify the encoding of an entire CD collection into MP3 format.

WavSplit splits large WAV files at given time positions. To find out split positions you can use any WAV player or editor with a time display. Also included is a tool which helps you renaming the created tracks. WavSplit is based on wavplay and GNU split.

The True Audio (TTA) codec is a simple realtime lossless audio
compressor. It performs lossless compression on multichannel 8, 16,
and 24 bit data of Wav audio files. The compression ratios depend on
the type of music file being compressed, but the compression size will
generally range between 30%-70% of the original. TTA supports both ID3v1
and ID3v2 information tags.

MPyRe (Music Python Ripper) is a Python front-
end to cdparanoia, LAME, Musepack, and Ogg
Vorbis and FLAC encoders. It supports ID3
and APEv2 tagging.

Apetag is command line tagging tool for
multimedia files such as Monkey's Audio and
Musepack that use the APE 2.0 standard.

It also comes with a script, tagdir, that will tag all the tracks in an album by invoking apetag or other similar tools (e.g. metaflac) for each track. All that is needed is the album's freedb record.
